New Site at Cupar

The site for the new Curling Centre will be at Duffus Park, Cupar.

It gives Fife Curling Trust great pleasure to update you on developments in our efforts to build a new curling facility in Cupar.   After lengthy and detailed negotiations with Fife Council, Duffus Park Partnership, Cupar Cricket Club, Elmwood College, RCCC & SportScotland, we have now pulled all the parties together and secured a site at Duffus Park, Cupar as the location for this facility (see attached site plan).

The proposed new Curling Centre will serve Cupar, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Levenmouth, the wider rural NE Fife and Howe & East Neuk communities for next 40 to 50 years.

The development will take the form of a 4 sheet curling rink (no skating) with ancillary changing rooms, café/lounge, teaching room, office and storage for cricket ground equipment at a tendered fully equipped cost of £1,541,000.    Please download  the  Prospectus on the Fundraising page for further details.

Cupar Cricket Club have agreed to jointly progress the Fife Curling Centre with a view to them replacing their existing pavilion and storage by utilising dedicated areas incorporated within the new curling rink building.  This arrangement will give the new complex year round activity and revenue and will strengthen our application for funding from Sportscotland.   Vehicular access to the area will be via Elmwood College, who have intimated that they will use the facility for a number of activities.

The timescale will see a 1st stage application for funding from Sportscotland being lodged in Oct 2009, followed up by a submission for detailed planning permission in Jan 2010.   The application for the final, stage 2, application for funding will also be in Jan 2010.  Construction would hopefully begin in Spring 2010 with the opening of our new rink in Sept 2010.

It is now up to YOU, as a member of the Fife Curling Community to show your support to the project by giving generously through donations, pledges and various fundraising activities.  It is IMPERATIVE that these donations and pledges come forward to us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. (Please read the Prospectus for the fundraising details.)

Please help us build a new community based curling facility at Cupar in order to safeguard the sport in the area for the next 40-50 years.
